Hello Sweet Pea!
Say hello to the newest member of our family! Mateo Tai Chiang Phelan.
Mateo arrived eagerly on Sept 3rd at 10:18 pm after a quick 2 hour labour at home. The midwife team arrived sparing 18 minutes. Phewph. Lauren was an absolute champ moving through a very fast labour. I was later scolded for delaying the call to the Midwife team. Lesson learned.
After followup checks, celebrations and a quick snack, we settled in for a few hours of sleep. Home births aren’t for everyone, but I will say it was so nice to go right to bed after the big night.
Waking up Mila (yes she slept through the birth!) to meet her new baby brother was beautiful. She was equally excited and surprised to meet the little one. After a celebratory pancake breakfast in bed, we hurried off to daycare.
It’s been almost a week since the birth and everyone is doing well. It is without saying that life with two little one’s has already been an adjustment - a bit more chaotic and even more lovely moments. I’m looking forward to taking things slow the next month with a full return to work at the end of September.
Saying goodbye to summer! It’s been a really great past few months despite the challenges in the industry. There is lots to celebrate!
For those of you who live in BC, our documentary Purple Tiger was acquired by Knowledge Network and is available for streaming!
The biggest news is that we are officially green-lit for our feature Documentary, Spring After Spring. Production will begin late this fall / early winter, expect lots of updates!
Between wrapping production on our 3-part Telus Originals Series, Our Ocean Table, directing an Episode of "Postcards From" and doing some directing work with my friends at Origin, it was a race to the finish line before the baby came.
And finally, I’m excited to share a new personal project in the next month, Firsts. A little something inspired by my first Subaru Impreza, Firsts tells the story of a father and daughter embarking on a new chapter in their lives. Some sneak peek stills . Stay tuned!
