New Film "Brothers" for the Canucks Autism Network
To this day, one of my favourite jobs was as a summer camp counsellor for the Easter Seals in Squamish. I learned so much from the kids and teens with disabilities. So many of these kids were the most freely expressed people I've met and there was never a dull moment to be had.
When Sabrina and Ryan reached out about creating a project for the Canucks Autism Network, I didn't hesitate to say yes. When I was first picking up photography, I had volunteered to help capture an event with CAN. I remember seeing the impact on their families and knowing the importance of the work the organization was doing.
The film takes the form of a letter from Drew and Dale Andre to their youngest brother, Dylan. Dylan is non-verbal and is incredibly affectionate. The film aired last week on Sports Net during the Canucks Game and Canucks for Kids Telethon. With the generous donations that night, CFK were able to raise $385,723 with much of that funding helping run programs for the Canucks Autism Network.
