Woohoo! Congrats to the Easter Seals and all the generous donors for raising more than $900,000 to send kids to camp! Seeing the generosity and support from the community for children with disabilities to go to camp was awesome.
Last summer I spent my first co-op term in Squamish as a camp counselor. Little to say, the experience was life changing. I got the chance to work with some of the most self-sacrificing and caring people. Even more importantly, I got the privilege to get to know some of the most brilliant kids and teenagers at camp. In just 3 months, I was able to learn how to act like a child again, make believe, be a quasi-parent, and live as if every moment was another adventure. I felt like I was able to make a home from strangers and discover a new appreciation for the place I’m so fortunate to live in.
Below are some photos that you can find in the ‘personal’ section of my portfolio. There are some photos from moments at camp, mostly film, but some digital. They highlight some of the amazing counselors and programmers I called my family over the three months.
